Rio Cibolo Ranch

The Ranch is situated about a mile south of Interstate 10; along the route the Spanish Conquistadors took as they moved westward during the sixteenth century. This route was later designated The Old Spanish Trail and stretches from Florida to California.

First There Were Indians

Prior to the settlement of the area by the pioneers from Spain and Germany, Apache and Comanche Indians inhabited the land. The Indians mainstay was the buffalo that numbered in the thousands and was necessary for their survival, providing food, clothing, and shelter.

The Zuehl Community

In 1864, Carl Christian Zeuhl, an immigrant from Prussia settled near the Ranch and established a community that bears his name. Before the turn of the century, Zuehl was a thriving town with two cotton gins. The Main Street was called Gin Road with a gin at each End. This Is the road to the Ranch and runs by the original plantation house that was built in the German (gingerbread style). The house is still standing in good condition and can be seen on the south side of Gin Road as you approach the Ranch.

A 20,000 sq. foot facility with authentic western décor that will seat from 100 to 2,000 guests with room to dance in front of a Texas-size stage. By utilizing the grounds along the Corral, we can easily accommodate 5,000 people! Numerous food service and bar areas can be set up inside and out to handle any size crowd. This area lends itself to either relaxed dining on picnic tables or may be transformed into elegant dining complete with table linens and china for the most discriminating client. The surrounding grounds have huge Pecan trees for shade during the day and come alive with lights for evening parties on the lawn. There are two huge fire pits to warm those cool Texas evenings. Clear plastic drops can be lowered in the event of inclement weather.

Lazy Lilly

The Ranch facilities are truly ideal. The air conditioned and heated Lazy Lily, for groups of 200 or less, is an intimate venue where guests may enjoy a more laid back atmosphere. An old fashioned buffet style picnic with a barbecue dinner, grilled burgers, hot dogs or fajitas served on the 2,000 square foot deck suspended over the banks of the Cibolo Creek with a view of our waterfall is a real crowd please. Plus, guests can enjoy feeding our resident catfish right off the deck.

Corporate Picnics

Rio Cibolo Ranch is the absolute perfect location for your next company picnic. We handle all details so you and your company picnic committee can show up with their family and enjoy the picnic. We do it all from turnkey catering, entertainment services, running registration, event coordination of games and activities, and much more!

Catering

Since 1987, we have strived to create a unique menu that allows you to whet your appetite with delectable Ranch entrees and desserts you can only get at Rio Cibolo Ranch. We do not use an off-site caterer and pride ourselves on our home-style attitude of cooking for our guests at the Ranch. From the moment you arrive, you are fed and entertained with home grown Texas hospitality and fun!

Of course, Texas barbecue is our specialty and the most popular item we have to offer. Our brisket is smoked for many hours in a Texas sized barbecue pit (which, by the way is the largest barbecue pit this side of the Rio Grande, as far as we know!) Our barbecue chicken melts in your mouth as it falls off the bone and our sausage with its special barbecue sauce will make you feel like you have taken a delectable trip through barbecue heaven.

Of course we can cater to any theme party you desire, whether it be a Mexican South of the Border Party, Tex-Mex Party, Hawaiian Luau, Cajun Catfish Fry, or any regional or traditional holiday theme party. Our catering staff has years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry and knows what it takes to cater for private groups of 50 to 5,000.
